YouTube Ads Leaderboard: The Best of August

YouTube Ads Leaderboard: The Best of August

August's Ads Leaderboard features a trip back in time, a couple of not-so-subtle digs at the competition, and even some LEGOs. After four years, Turkish Airlines returned to the list (and landed the top spot!) thanks to a one-of-a-kind safety video featuring the stars from The LEGO Movie. Serena Williams stars in a Nike ad that flashes back to her childhood with her dad's voice in the background. And Samsung continues to be a force on the Ads Leaderboard by snagging three spots with the Galaxy Note9 launch video, as well as the Notch and Fast Charger ads that poke fun at the iPhone X.

One last thing: Virtual Study Buddies

One last thing: Virtual Study Buddies

Back to school season can conjure up memories of lonely all-nighters, but luckily, they're a thing of the past. "Study with me" videos invite viewers to watch and join people who filmed themselves studying. For example, TheStrive Studies channel encourages viewers to crack open the books and follow along with a diligent medical student doing homework with relaxing music in the background. One person commented, "I've used this four or five times already in the past two weeks. Didn't think these types of videos would actually work for me, but it's helping me stay incredibly focused." Some of the most popular videos also share motivational tips to help students be as productive as possible.

What does this mean for marketers?
Education is a huge vertical on YouTube, with more than one billion views of learning-related videos every single day. Is there something your brand can teach viewers? For example, Apple created an entire series that shows people how to use the iPhone X like a pro. This trend is proof that in a world full of distractions, your ad doesn't have to be one of them.
