The FIFA World Cup is such a special moment for adidas, as we see how creativity shapes sport culture around the world. I particularly love the kick-off film "Forget" from ITV. This video instantly sparks excitement, rallies fans and makes the World Cup story brand new all over again.

One last thing: Soccer fans kick fandom up a notch

In today's mobile world, the 2018 FIFA World Cup has become an event that not only spans cultures, but also spans screens. With so much information available at their fingertips, fans are turning to their devices to learn about favorite players, relive key moments and school themselves on soccer skills. Here are 3 trends that show how soccer fans turn to YouTube for content surrounding the games.

1. Soccer captures the world's attention: Search volume for the the World Cup (across Google and YouTube) surpasses searches for the Olympic Games or other major sporting events.

2. It's not just the game that people are watching: The majority of fans expect to see what's going on behind-the-scenes with competing teams and athletes. In fact, since the last FIFA World Cup, we've seen a 6X increase in watchtime of trick shot videos and drills, as well as a 9X increase in highlight videos.

3. Catch the action on your schedule: Over half of fans say that while watching the games live is important, they plan to watch at a later time that's more convenient for them.
