#deletefacebook

John Biggs isn't sitting on the fence when it comes to Facebook; it is, he says, cancer. You'd have to have been living under a rock for the last week to miss the tech and privacy storm that's threatening to bring down the web's biggest social network. TechCrunch looks at the case for deleting your Facebook account.

Vue Design System

Vue.js is one of the fastest growing frameworks in the world, and Vue Design System is an open source set of tools, design patterns, naming conventions, and best practices that streamline vue.js development. There's automatic doc generation, component status tracking, NPM configurability, and more.

What Does UX Actually Mean?

UX has a myriad of definitions, some good, some bad, some ugly. In his excellent article, Caglar Araz explores the history of UX, how some of the best thinkers in the field describe the practice, and proposes a singular definition of UX that may trump everything that's gone before. A must-read for UX Professionals.

Color Wheel App

Color Wheel is a fantastic app from Brandmark. Simply design a logo or illustration in grayscale, or design it in full color and convert to grayscale; drag and drop it onto Color Wheel's UI; you can then choose from 8 color palette styles, from Dribbble to Vintage Posters; tweak the hue and vibrancy; finally click the previews to get your hex codes.

EU May Force Google to Reveal its Secrets

Emboldened by its successful GDPR implementation, the European Union is taking aim at search giants with new proposals to force search engines, and ecommerce sites, to disclose their ranking rules. It's claimed that it will not force a disclosure of Google's actual algorithm, but rather level the playing field for smaller independent businesses.

Designing for Research

We all accept that the most desirable user experiences are created after extensive user research. But how do we go about creating that research? What questions do we ask? How do we collect data? How do we test subjective views on an experience? Jeremy Wagner shares his experience of user testing image quality.

Airtable App

Airtable is an exceptional tool for creatives that's part spreadsheet, part database. There are native mobile and desktop apps to make it easier to use, content can be intelligently linked, and you can view data as a list, as a calendar, as a gallery, or as a kanban. The free version is ideal for most design teams and freelancers.
