Some of you have been around since day one, way back in 2014, and you've all provided a great deal of support over the years. From lovely tweets and link suggestions to kind emails when I was unwell and out of action. All of that was and is super meaningful - you're all legends. The only reason I'm in a position to launch this new phase is because of your ongoing support. We've given OG members a free month of the daily newsletter, but today is the last day. If you want to continue to receive the daily newsletter, you'll now need to pay to become a Versioning Member. If you do that today, you'll also get our special introductory deal on the membership. The move to this paid membership model was a tough call. I liked Versioning being widely available and it was gratifying watching the subscriber numbers track upward every day. It's also hard to go out on a limb and assign a dollar value to something that's previously been free. While we're all growing more comfortable paying for content online, paid newsletters aren't yet common. People - OGs like yourself - already love Versioning as it is, but I knew I could make it even better if I had more time to spend on it. I wanted to be able to do so without relying on (often disruptive) advertising. By spending all my time on Versioning, I'll be able to make every edition better, as I improve the breadth and depth of coverage and commentary, and I'll also expand the newsletter with more editions on particularly important subjects, like yesterday's AI-focused edition. This is important to me, and I think you'll find it valuable too. So! As you know, the paid version will continue to offer the core daily newsletter - five daily editions a week, plus standalone updates on specific subjects or areas, plus media guides and more weekend longreads. Down the line, the sky's the limit - please tell me what you want to see, I want to get this right! Today, this is available for $5/month or $50/year. Tomorrow, midnight Saturday PST, this moves to $7/month or $70/year. There will continue to be a free (great) weekly edition, plus other periodic free editions. You don't need to do anything if you want to continue to receive the weekly version. But to keep reading the daily version, you will need to subscribe to the paid version.
