Hey Rudy, creepy crawly video trends score big on YouTube

Who is this duo?

Here's what everyone's watching on YouTube.

A lot's been happening on YouTube, are you keeping up? Do you know what 93% of millennials come to YouTube to do? How about which YouTuber is flying business class on Qatar Airways? Let's play Deja:View and see if you're right!

YouTube DejaView

Outside-the-box costumes, mesmerizing makeup tutorials and candy-flavored, well, everything, remind us that Halloween is just a week away! This week's trending video lineup also includes a deeply personal story shared by Anna Akana about her abortion experience. Her poignant, candid storytelling inspires others to share their own stories and join the conversation.

YouTube Picks by a Millennial

For me, YouTube equals entertainment — whether that's comedy, inspirational stories, or keeping up with pop culture. I love that YouTube supports a diverse range of YouTubers, and I tend to watch channels with multicultural creators, such as Pero Like or Mitu. Plus, I enjoy creating my own content (like many of my fellow millennials) and even have my own YouTube channel featuring videos based on my life. I believe that everyone has a story to tell. And now, it's easier for people to tell it, watch it, share it and then watch it again.

It's no surprise that 63% of YouTube millennials go to YouTube to be entertained (Google / Ipsos Connect, September 2016). We'll continue to invite friends from the advertising community to guest curate YouTube Picks. Read more about what millennials are watching here.

View in 2: Creepy Crawly and Challenges

Human nature can be a very powerful thing, which is why viewers love the rush of dopamine that comes from being scared. Creepy crawly videos that gross us out make for some very memorable content. It's also in our nature to be competitive, which is why online challenge videos have become so popular. In fact, they've even found their way into almost every video category! This week, View in 2 is exploring both of these video trends.
