SitePoint JavaScript I'm afraid I have to begin this newsletter with a sad announcement — SitePoint's fortnightly newsletters are being "retired". I've been writing this editorial since I joined SitePoint as a JavaScript editor in 2015 and have enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, the JavaScript landscape has changed considerably since then. To give you an idea of how much so, have a look at my first editorial. As you can see, in those days Angular 2 was still some way off, isomorphic apps were being touted as the future of the web, Object.observe() was an upcoming feature (now deprecated) and Rendr was considered "one to watch". Even reading that newsletter makes me feel old... Looking back through some of the other past issues, I wanted to leave you with three of my favorites: But it's not all bad news. Here at SitePoint, we'll be continuing — and further developing — Versioning, our popular daily newsletter that has a full run-down of all important news, articles, products and services for web people, including plenty of coverage of JavaScript. If you'd rather a newsletter that focuses on JavaScript exclusively, and you're somehow not already a subscriber, we can recommend the consistently excellent JavaScript Weekly, which goes out weekly from the Cooperpress newsletter family. They also have plenty of other weekly newsletters on related web topics, like Node.js and HTML/CSS. So long and thanks for reading! James Hibbard JavaScript Editor @SitePointJS |
